Appealing Real Property Taxes

This year, many individuals experienced the impact of increased property taxes due to various factors such as inflation, changes in mileage rates, and the rise in real estate values driven by new construction projects or gentrification. In Georgia, property owners receive an assessment notice before the tax bill, providing an opportunity to review and potentially contest the charges within 45 days of the notice date.

However, the timing of these notices, typically arriving around April or May, coincides with other significant obligations like federal taxes, school commitments, or work responsibilities, increasing the likelihood of missing the appeal deadline amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. Personally, I almost missed the appeal deadline due to focusing on my oldest daughter's high school graduation. Instances of missing these deadlines due to major life events are frequently shared on platforms like Nextdoor.

A common challenge faced by property owners is the desire to dispute their property assessment but lacking the time, expertise, or resources to navigate the appeals process effectively.

Overcoming this obstacle involves seeking assistance from professionals such as Property Revaluation Experts. To address my concerns regarding property assessment, I intend to take a more proactive approach by engaging their services in the future.
